1996 Cherokee XJ Starting Issues
I have a 96 cherokee Xj thats slow to go when it warms up. The vehicle runs well whenit is cold and during short drives. But, once the Jeep runs a while I dont experience anything problems until I stop and turn the Jeep off. Once this is done and attempt to restart it, it asks as if its not getting gas and sputters and sounds as if it is bogging down. Once it cools off it starts with no problem, or attempt to start it and pump the gas and getting the engine going and it subsides. The vehicle isnt overheating, but it seems like it is trying vapor lock. This engine fuel injected and does not have a carburator. So, it cant vapor lock, or at least not by definition of the old school vapor locking problems.
Any ideas anyone.

I checked the pressure on the fuel rail and it has plenty of pressure on the fuel. The exhaust pipe has been cut down. Could the heat coming from the exhaust cause issues with the pump.
