1996 cherokee cooling improvements
guys,
i have a stock 4.0 ho, new radiator, water pump, thermostat, hoses etc. I do have a warn winch control box in front of the radiator and Hella lights that some what block also. Jeep gets around 220 degrees sitting in traffic. Electric fan works and I'm pretty sure fan clutch is functioning. What else could I do to increase cooling? Truck is mint and do not want hack something in. Looking for an intellegent answer.
Thanks,
Fr&Fthr

220degrees isn't bad.
Electric fan kicks in, what around 217 degrees iirc.
These engines actually like getting a little hot, and 220 isn't anything to worry over, especially in traffic.
If you are worried, replace the clutch fan with an electric fan.
I actually just replaced the thermostat that was in my Jeep with one 15 degrees higher. Went from 180 to 195.

I just replaced my fan clutch with the HD version... Keeps my 96 much cooler. My electric fan still turns on when I'm on a long slow uphill crawl. Fan noise was increased a bit.
NAPA part number 272310... it was much bigger than I one I replaced it with, it sounds like my fan is always hooking up. I was going off this threads recommendation and it definitely helped. http://www.naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=1036996
