Hey fellas I have a 1991 xj 4.0 took it wheeling and went into a watet pit as soon as it hit the water it died. Got pulled out took it back to the camp site dried out the distributor checked for water in the oil and got it fired back up. Was running fine so we went back to the woods. As sonn as we got to the bottom of the hill it started to miss bad so I limped it back out to camp. So far I have put cps, crank ps, new distributor, tips, iac, new plugs, wires, it has 120psi of compression, 20psi fuel pressure and it still won't start also a new alternator and pcm. I'm banging my head on this and it driving me insane. Please help!
Is the check engine light on? If so what codes is it throwing. Just turn the key on, off, on, off, on and leave it in the on position without cranking and it will blink the codes. Watch a you tube video on it and you will see how to read them. That would help us tremendously vs throwing stuff at it. Could be anything at this point...you need a systematic approach at checking everything.
My guess is water/debris got into the tank,, or the fuel pump electric connections are FUBAR.
As stated above,, 20psi is less than 1/2 of what you need.
