I was wheeling last weekend, going down a service road I went through a small puddle. Midway through the water the cherokee shut down. It has happened before but came on after a couple minutes. It cranks but won't come to life. It did start up but would die a minute later. I checked the intake, no water. Checked the wires/distributor, connected and dry. I replaced the crank position sensor and it did not help. Any suggestions?

 

See if you splashed water on to your fuel pump ballast resistor on the driver's side inner fender.

 

Then, click on the link in my signature and do #4 and #3. #1 is never a bad idea.
