1989 Cherokee ba10 swap to ax15
So my 1989 Cherokee ba10 is junk. I found an ax15 from a 95 Cherokee
I am trying to figure out if it will fit or what parts I might have to change. Will I have to change to clutch and pilot bearing out or no. Any advice is really helpful.

You've verified it's a BA10? Just checking as the BA10/AX15 switch was mid-year 1989. If it's a 4wd, the transfer case input behind the BA10 will have 21-splines, versus 23 on the AX15. https://www.novak-adapt.com/knowledg...vg-input-gears
The AX15 case is about 3/8" shorter, and I think the length of the bell-housings is similar. Most writeups I've seen say there is no need to change driveshafts. You'll need to check that you get the right pilot bushing as it changed from .75 to .56 at some point. I think most clutch kits now including both bushings. I'd probably change the clutch out anyway while you're in there.
Also, do a quick search on the right fluid for the AX15. Do not use generic GL5.

I just purchased this, it's stating it'll fit with a ba10 or an ax15 from 1989 to 1991. I'm about to pull the trigger on a used ax15 transmission and transfer case from 1989. I'm just curious if the pilot tip will be a different size even thou there the same year But then again I also saw one from a 95 for significantly less money and was wondering if the pilot tip would be a different diameter.
Looks like your screen shot is from Novak. If you read further down that page, it says the tip of the transmission shaft changed in 92, and the the size of the bore in the end of the crank might be larger than 1". https://www.novak-adapt.com/catalog/...hings/amc-ax15. I'll let others who have done this swap alread chime in here, but I think you need a bearing with 1-1/16 OD and 3/4" ID.

Thank you. I'm just trying to decide at the moment, I found an ax15 and transfer case from 89 but it's about 1200$
I then found one from a 95 and it's 450.
Only problem I have now is when I pulled the trans the other day I discovered the point bearing wasn't even in there, guess it went into airplane mode or something 🙃. So at the moment I gotta know the dimensions for a 1989 ax15 lol.

I wouldn't pay $1200 for an 89 AX15 with an internal slave that probably needs a rebuild by now. Not even sure I'd pay $450 for a used 95 unless it was real low mileage.
