Default 1988 jeep cherokee cold air intake

ok i have a 1988 jeep cherokee, inline six, 4.0 liter. on my air filter box i have 2 vacume hoses that plug into it and i dont see a spot for these on the spectre cold air intake. i was wondering what these vacume hoses do and if i need them how would i modify the intake?

the vacuum line got to the thermostatic switch in the air box, this controls the "air valve" at the front of the box"fresh air inlet" at the grill.

I was thinking about buying the tube and putting a cal filter on it and then make a heat shield.

Or you could do this. https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f67/my...snorkle-67919/

You get true "cold air", not hot engine air, and it costs around $20.

As far as the vac tubes you only need to plug the one that leads back to the manifold

Yeah i just did mine. Works great. Theres a tropical storm down here in florida right now and the streets have 6"-8" of water. Ive been driving around with water gushing over my hood and dident get any water in the intake.
