Mount it on the windshield above steering wheel. It help keep the instrument cluster cool. So it won't give out false readings. And as a bonus, it help keep you cool too!

Google the Taurus fan swap for xj. I think they are around 16" as well.

Don't even bother running it to a toggle. Just solder it directly to the battery posts. Toggles are known to fail prematurely.

First ensure that the cooling system is fully functioning.
Then look at other options such as;
Upgrade the stock fan clutch = more airflow
Use toggle switch for stock electric fan.

The fan clutch from a Grand Cherokee V8 flows considerably more air. Direct bolt on.

The stock electric fan can easily accept a toggle switch for more airflow when you want it. Will not affect the computers control of the fan.

Would either be an option for you?

I could use both ideas . I always hear about having one fan pulling and and the other pushing wasn't sure about all that my jeep never really runs to hot. Was just gonna put it on for a "just in cAse" situation. Guess I really don't need it?

Not a good idea period.

I may sound like ma broken record but very few of the XJ's need anything other than the stock cooling system if everything is in good shape to work 100% for cooling. Very seldom are aftermarket fans/radiators needed for them to run cool. Mine stays right at 210-215 even when wheeling with the air on and temps in the 90's.
