Default 1310 U-Joint strap replacement ideas

Doing some research on what style I want to go with, and thought I'd share some links for future reference.

Typical Dorman #81008 U bolts

Fastshafts Billet U-Bolt Kits, looks pretty stout.

Aluminum U-Joint Girdles, popular in the drag racing world, so it must be good.

Iron Rock Offroad Chry8.25 U bolt yoke kit.

Pay attention to the width of those girdle straps - while they both will fit the 1310 ujoint, neither is technically wide enough to fit the holes in the yoke

Stock: 1.587"
Fastshafts: 1.415"
Leadmine: 1.406"

Correct way to do it is to swap the yoke with one designed for ubolts:

8.25 Yoke and U-bolts: http://www.ironrockoffroad.com/Merch...tegory_Code=XD

D30 Yoke and Ubolts: http://www.ironrockoffroad.com/Merch...Category_Code=

In general, it's not a good idea to drill the existing yoke for the ubolts - you'll likely run into clearance issues on the backside, and when you convert a 'strap' yoke to a 'u-bolt' yoke, the u-bolts do not fir the ujoint cap the entire way around, leaving areas for the cap to deform and crush the needle bearings.

Kinda my thoughts as well. Thank you for those measurements, I didn't even realize that. Looks like I'll be going with the ubolt yoke kit for the front and rear. Along with new u joints as well.

Thanks Dukie!
