12" sub enclosure
This is a design I have been using since 1992 in my 2nd 3rd and 4th Xjs. I too made a 10" box that fits in the cubby hole in 1991 and was to not happy that my Dad's 6 1/2" bazooka tube blew it away.

The reasons the side pocket dose not work are 1 the box is 1/4 cu.ft. 10" subs work best in 1 cu.ft. the reason I know the box is 1/4 cu.ft. I poured shipping peanuts in and then poured them into a 1 cu.ft box, 2 the box is facing in the worst position possible, how do I know this? Because I put the 10" sub in a 1 cu.ft. box and pointed it in all directions and the best location is where my box sits and the worst spot is where the side pocket is. Hellraiser if you read this I am very happy to see that you are a audio freak and that your having fun with it, your box looks very nice and well made and I wouldn't mind if you or anyone copy's it, if there is enough interest I will post. I love loud music and always have had kick butt systems since 1974.

You can't see, but the amp is almost ripoff proof. If you mount your amp on the side panel using machine screws, washers and locknuts it becomes too big of a hassle to steal. You do have to pull the panel to hold the screw from turning, you need to tighten it up just enough so if someone tries to unscrew it it just spins. Having the amp screwed to the box is the worst because it's just a smash and grab, even screws can be pulled out with ease.

i have a good pretty good set up with my ONE 12inch sub in the back of mine. ill take pics tomorrow. It is more about the box design than the speaker or the amp.

box design is relative to the speaker you are using, box design, and listening style. number are just for reference they have no relation to anything. a .5 cb ft sealed box give nice tight sound. .75 middle road, and 1cb big boomy bass. that is basic sealed box stuff. ported boxes offer a little more tuning. size of box, port width, shape and length. there are also tricks to make a small box sound like a bigger box if you are lacking area. if you can only build a .5cb box but want it to sound bigger you can put poly pillow stuffing in it and it makes it sound bigger
pretty much what im saying is stock specs are good to follow or use a good program like bass box pro to design a nice box because boxes are very important to sound and how much power you can actually run to your subs
4-12 mtx 5500s. 400watts max 200 rms. ran off 2 1600 watt mtx amps so i was running 800 per sub. 1.73cbft box per sub with a 17in long 3in round port tuned to 53 hz. hit 153db in a sanctioned comp

yeah I run ported when I run a sub.
Getting to your comment about .5 .75 1 cu. If your running it as a sub why would you want anything but boom?

It took you 4 subs and that big of a box to hit 153?

I only used ported boxes and DD subs. My box is built to DD specs 2.4 cu. ft. with a 18" long 18 sq inch port. But the main reason I started this thread was not to start a SPL thread but to share a design of both ported and sealed boxes that are way louder than the box in the side pocket and takes up around 8" of space and the mounting bracket and the back seat keep it rigid when off roading. It also protects the sub from anything rolling around. I made it to have some real bass in the least amount of space. Your set up is cool and I like that your having fun with SPL competition. I had the old bass box program and made everything from sealed to band pass of all orders. Once I started using DD audios subs and box designs I stopped using it. His box designs are close to the same that mmats and atomic use. Thanks for showing cause I know how much time and money you got into it!
