Default K J Jeep problem in Australia

Hi all, I have just joined and hope that you can assist me to fix a problem. I have a K J 2003 model cherokee diesel. The engine cranks but wont start. The injector pump was replaced but did not fix the problem. The pump will not start with the ignition on before cranking (or during), consequently the motor will not fire and I cannot locate the cause.

Welcome to the forum....What I would do ,if it has an electric fuel pump, is to check the wiring harness to the fuel pump...make sure that you have the proper voltage to the pump when you turn the key on and when cranking the engine...if you do, then the pump is bad...if you don't then you should check to see if the circuit has a relay and make sure that the relay is working properly and it has a proper ground and voltage with the key on and off...and also check to make sure that your wiring is good ....that will give you something to start with.......let me know how it goes....

Thanks for the information. I shall have this tested. The pump was replaced a few weeks ago when a dealer said the problem would be the pump. It did not fix the problem. Then they told me it would be the injectors, they replaced them. Still did not fix the problem. They then said it was most probably the "computor". It was then that asked them if they knew what they were doing and they said maybe. At that stage they had, had my jeep for 5 weeks, I told them that I was getting it towed away and now it sits in a garage with me doing the analysis work to try to find out what it is that is preventing it from starting. I am not a mechanic and any help is greatly appreciated.

One thing I forgot to mention , you should check fuses as well...Also find a manual for it ,so you have wiring diagrams to go by.....
