You want to take a paper gasket and use gasket maker. Take the gasket maker and make a THIN and I mean THIN bead on both sides of the gasket. What the RTV/Gasket maker does is fill in any imperfections in the housing or engine: which might be the cause.

Okay, so cleaned my carburetor and put some stuff in my gas tank, took it back in, and still blew the same CO count... Not sure what's wrong now...

And again with more exciting news... Having distributor trouble. Rigs been sitting in my driveway for a week... Can't even begin to express how excited that makes me...(for those who couldn't guess, that was sarcasm) Any ideas would be greatly appreciated cause I don't even know what parts are bad...

So news is there is no news... Still stuck on chalks in my driveway... I'm thinking motor swap may be sooner than I expected. But for now, gonna try rebuilding the carb to get it running and past emissions. Never done it before. Hints would be appreciated. I did however decide on straight body, and am now flareless! Can't wait to throw some mud once this thing works...

I put a 3" aal on the back last week and three of my leafs fell apart in my hands...two others were so fatigued I could bend them by hand. After that was all fixed with new leafs and shocks, it rides like a caddy. I can't believe I drove it the way it was thinking " oh its just a jeep, theyre all like that..."

Hello cherokee forum! It's been a while since I had anything to post. Jeep was inop for almost three months, between the driveway and the shop... But Friday I got it back! Brand spankin new carburetor, got the tires mounted, and dropped a pretty penny at the shop, but it's running the way it should have been the whole time. Old carb was completely shot. Drove it home Friday from the shop after a quick test drive, which went fine, and it stalled out on the road... Had my friend come try to jump me with no luck, so we towed it to his place, took out the battery which was causing me trouble on my voltage meter, and managed to talk my way into a free replacement battery. That fixed it for the night, and the next morning. Took it Saturday morning to the emissions testing center so I can register it, and it stalled out on the dyno machine... Towed it home early Sunday and brainstormed... Today popped the hood with my friend Mic, and found some vacuum lines disconnected... Attached them again and it worked fine. Drive around town for a bit and had no trouble. Got home and went to leave a bit later and it stalled out right in front of my house. Went to restart it, and heard nothing, which is strange because my fuel pump is loud. Figured out the fuel pump was shot, so went out and bought a replacement. Hooked it into the line in no time at all, and fixed a vapor lock problem under the hood, and bing!! Running like a champ! Even put a new deck in it and painted the rims today. Will put up some pictures tomorrow. Good to be back guys! Look for me on the streets!
