Default ZJ vs WJ, who will win?!?

Ok guys and gals, I need a little help on making a decision. Normally, I wouldn't even bother posting something like this, but I honestly can't make up my mind on which way to go.

My XJ is getting less and less a DD. Call it getting old, but I'm yearning for a little more than my no interior, so loud you can't talk to your passenger/hear the radio/hear one's own thoughts DD. I have two options for a DD that are currently in my possession. One I'll keep and the other I'm going to sell. My two options are:

'94 ZJ Limited: 5.2L, 46RH, 249, D30/35, 3.73, lifted 4-4.5", leather, adj uppers and lowers with flex joints, IRO double shear track bar and drop bracket, front tow hooks, rear hitch, factory skid plate package (not all installed right now), 32x11.5x15 BFG AT's, aftermarket ignition, 170k miles maybe? I honestly can't remember off hand.

Needs:
- Tires (have a set laying around)
- D30 LCA mount torn off on one side and needs ball joints, brakes, hubs (have an axle ready to go in that's all good).
- U-joints in the front driveshaft
- Radio (has none) and speaker wire run
- Exhaust work
- Eventually doors, a few are gone under the cladding

I originally bought this to be a winter driver. I gave it a new rattle can paint job, installed the tow hooks, hitch, skids, track bar, replaced all the missing/broken interior pieces, chased down some electrical gremlins, and other stuff. I know it was wheeled by the previous owner.

VS

'04 WJ Special Edition: 4.0L, 42RE, 247, D30/35 (just replaced the D35 after the original grenaded), 3.55, stock, leather, new brakes all around, newer tires, power everything, a/c, heated seats, sunroof, 10 disc cd changer, 114k. I know this baby lived an easy life.

Needs:
- Valve cover gasket
- CV axle shaft

I bought this off my step-sister to fix and flip. However, I've become a little attached to it and the idea of having a nice (as in, multiple passenger, creature comforts, clean) vehicle is tempting. I have all the service records for it and I know it was well taken care of. Plus, it'd be nice to drive my Mom around in something I own. Seriously, she hasn't been able to ride in a vehicle I've owned in over 6 years.

VS

The Surprise Challenger: Then there's the third option I've been toying with. That would be dumping both of the Grands and buying either a white XJ or Waggy. However, I fear that I couldn't leave well enough alone and end up with another trail pig.

So what say you?

Because it sounds like you looking to enjoy the creature comforts in your DD, I think the WJ makes sense. The ZJ seems to be already headed towards a secondary trail rig, where as the WJ is bone stock.

You have the trail rig, now keep the WJ stock as DD, still enough to get through some rough weather and the occasional forest road. Just my thoughts.

Keep the WJ, and keep it Stock. Go as nuts as you like with your trail rigs. You'll need something respectable for trips to the bank manager

Keep the WJ. You know it's history. You know it was taken care of. It only needs minor work and they look great.

My WJ is the first and only Jeep I've owned so I can't speak much about the XJ or ZJ, but mine has been great. Mines an 04 Laredo and outside of general maintanence I haven't had to fix anything. It's hard to find after market performance stuff for but that doesn't seem to be what you're looking at doing anyways. I'm going to have to agree with the majority here and say pick the WJ, especially seeing as you know it's history.

Thanks for the input everyone. I'm still on the fence on what to do. My greatest concern with the WJ is that I know I won't be able to leave it stock for long. I'm just not capable of leaving vehicles alone for some reason. With the ZJ, I'd still need to do all the work to sell it. As it stands, the front wheels are ready to fall off and the LCA mount is holding on by a thread on one side. Why can't I just keep all the Jeeps?

wj gets my vote. its clean and has some class lol. i hear you about not being able to leave cars stock. if i had the wj as a dd i would just tint the window's/tail lights. get some nice wheels and tires and add a stereo. no need for a lift if you have a trail rig. save yourself the gas and money
