Default ZJ skid plate

ok so i picked up a ZJ gas tank skid plate from my local jy about 2 months ago. i was wondering what mods i need to do to the skid plate, if any, to get it to fit. and or if i need to mod my jeep in any way. dont remember the year of the ZJ but i hvae a 2000 XJ and no tow package if that helps. any info would he highly appreciated. thank you.

ok so i did a search and came up with 2 diff answers. i dont knw which ones right or if they both are. but i read that you can cut some of the sides and itll fit and i also read that you can drill new holes in the skid and it will fit right in.

Pretty sure all you need to do is drill some new holes. Make a template from your frame rail, lay it on the skid and see where to drill.

I have one and all I did was match up the holes on the unibody rail to some cardboard and transfer them to the skid plate. I drilled the holes and mounted it right up. Works great and haven't had any problems with it yet. Definitely a great mod.

I know they are easier to find, but I was told they are thicker than those originally on xj's.... true?
