Do you think the rack is placed correctly, too far forward, or too far back? Thanks for your feedback!

When I got it, I thought so, too. But the price was right (Craigslist $250 [retails for over $700] and it was only a few months old). But I'll be throwing a spare up there with fuel & water cans and I'll still have plenty of room for camp equipment, so I can't complain.

Personally, I think it's a little bit forward, given where the spare will eventually sit, but I won't know for sure until I get it up there.

Looks good and central to me, at first I thought maybe needed back very slightly, but liftgate needs clearance.

So nice set up.

I would want a full size like that. Room is hard to find in an XJ.

Open your trunk and pull the rack back so that it is about and inch or so away from the lifted tailgate, then bolt it down. Looks like a great rack. Can't stand seeing XJ's with little pissy baskets on top. Looks so stupid.

If you ever sell it let me know.

That's a great idea! Rather than eyeballing it. I'll let you know if I ever decide to sell it...but I'll be honest with you, I wouldn't hold my breath!
