You probably hate people like me....
First of all, let me admit that I am a complete noob when it comes to jeeps. I have never owned a jeep. I have never gone wheeling. I have no experience working on cars. However, I have always loved the looks of the jeep cherokee, so when i saw an '01 Jeep Cherokee for sale a few weeks ago, I jumped on the opportunity. I am hoping to get into wheeling
Current Status:
Steel Bumper with winch.
5" Skyjacker lift.
33x12.5x15 wheels.
Wishlist:
Air intake and engine chip (for gas mileage)
Rear Bumper
Roof Rack
Trail Lights
Sliders
Disc brake conversion
Wheel carrier
transfer case drop
interior rack (like this one: http://www.quadratec.com/products/12038_800X_PG.htm) only I'm not gonna pay that much.
Learn about suspensions and other information regarding off-road use.
Figure out the lot number of my head gasket casting and replace if necessary
I will have pictures up on friday or saturday, because right now its in the shop. Current repairs are:
New brake pads all around
New axle seals all around
New front rotors
New steering knuckles
New water pump
I know I probably should have waited until I have pictures, but I'm at home bored, and I keep thinking about the jeep and lurking on the other build thread.

nice stats so far, though no need for an intake or chip waste of money just buy the gas. if you want better MPGs and you plan on spending a good amount of time in the dirt a set of lower gears will help a lot.
IMO armor first, t-case, sliders, and gas tank ASAP

in ohio now...originally from Arklow, just south of Dublin.
first question: when i got the jeep inspected before buying, they said there was a little bit of looseness (1mm-ish) in the front and rear parts of the driveshaft.
a) is that a big issue?
b) i was thinking of a 1" transfer case drop as my first project, based on price and difficulty. will that make my issue worse, better, or unchanged?

B. You said the jeep already has a 5 inch lift? It should have a t-case drop already for that much of a lift. I believe an sye is recommended for that much of a lift..
