Holy s**t! Thought I was just nuts and so did my family!

Anyway my all time go to is:
You know you drive a jeep when you use the rear wiper just because you have it and want to make sure it works!

I don't say "Jeep Jeep" but I call out what it is and any obvious mods. Includes passing judgement on whether a JK is likely a mall crawler. The wife's started to catch on too, I've got her trained in the difference between 97-98 and 99+ lol.

Since my XJ came with the name "Mr. Green Jeans" all XJs invariably have become "Jeans". EG "ooh that's a nice 97 or 98 Silver Jeans!" One in bad shape usually ilicits "oh no, sad Rust Jeans " lol

I've cleaned it twice. Will work better for a week or so, then back to starting in neutral

99+ have the shorter roof rack. 99 has "4.0L" painted on the hatch. 00/01 have a silver "4.0 LITRE" badge. If it has a 2.5L, it can't be an 01.

Obsession? I have no idea what you're taking about

Good, close (it's a badge), excellent, and fantastic.

But there's one easier to see from a distance in the dark for certain models: 97 & 98 have "Sport" in that tacky '90s script as a simple decal on the fender. 99+ have SPORT written on the door in badge lettering

You mean the big, white "4.0L" decal on the hatch? It isn't a badge on the ones I've seen. Maybe export?

And the bottom part is true, but it only applies to Sport trim level.

Hmmmmmmmm this requires further examination.

Late-model Limiteds are easy to spot too with the bling rims

I just realized I'd actually be pretty excited if I got an oil filter for Christmas. Lol

Seriously a Baldwin B7311-MPG would be a pretty cool stocking stuffer.
