Default Yokohama Geolandar MT+

I have a buddy that is a sales rep for Yokohama and he is giving me a great deal on some 31x10.50 Geolandar MT+'s.

Has anyone run these tires or seen someone with them? I did a search and nothing came up on CF but i also looked on google and youtube and there isnt much out there either. Good tire?

They look great for the dirt and mud, bad for the street though.

This will be my trail rig... Maybe a trip to the gas station or a beer run here or there but not going to be daily driven.

they have an extremely weak sidewall. probably why you dont see them on wheeling rigs.

You know your right, i dont see them on wheeling rigs that often but when i was at the Laughlin Desert Challenge last year they were on a TON of the prerunners and trophy trucks out there and they seemed to be doing fine. Colby at yokohama told me that although the tread pattern stays the same the sidewalls have been updated for 2012 with twin protector bars and a slightly different grove in the sidewall bites. Check out the link below!

protector bars are just a advertisement gimmick just like the mtr with kevlar. people see the word kevlar and think they are bullet proof. that link doesn't even publish the sidewall ply and probably there's a reason for that.

So i have done quite a bit more research on the tires and have found that... People love them! I did read some old reviews and yes they did have problems with the sidewalls a few years ago but they seem to have fixed that. The only complaint that i have seen thus far is reversing in the deep mud... but that shouldnt be too much of a problem for me because im not a fan of going thru deep mud or anything of the sorts. The first trip on the tires will be the last weekend of the month and i will write a full review for everyone to read.

My buddy runs them on his 2wd chevy on the read and its the most capable 2wd i've ever seen! And they've lasted quite a while. Never had any sidewall problems...

My friend had a set on his samurai that he gave to me when he moved to some 33x13.5 LTB's. They're a great mud tire, not as good as ltb's obviously but less expensive and more street worthy
