Default XJ vs ZJ

Ok I'm in the market for a Jeep. I have narrowed it down to a Cherokee 1992-2001 or a Grand Cherokee 1999-2000 both have to have the 4.0L six and autotrans. Other then the obvious (leaf springs, body lines, interior, cost..) What are some of the pros & cons of the two? I would like to do some mild mods (3' lift, bumpers and other stuff) to wich ever one I buy. I have done alot of research on the Cherokee and I am leaning that way. But I do not want to have it nickle N dime to death.
Thank four input guys and gals.

XJ has more aftermarket support/parts. Ive had a few of each now and I like the 97-01 XJ's better because of the redesigned interior,better seats and the fold away mirrors.

Thanks for the input Rmart30. Wow I thought there would be more feedback. Guess not.
Thanks again!

The XJ is lighter = fuel economy/acceleration (at slower speeds) easier on drive train components.
The XJ is smaller/more tightly hung body = more maneuverable in the tight stuff.
The XJ has better outward visibility = more confidence/precise off road.
The XJ has better approach/breakover/departure angles = off road ability.
The ZJ rides better = comfort.
The ZJ has more interior room = comfort.
The ZJ has more interior storage = groceries/gear.
The ZJ has less wind noise = less tiring on road trips/comfort.
The ZJ can be had with more advanced full-time 4wd… a benefit in snow/ice or higher speed gravel running.

XJ = 1.utility 2.off-road 3.pavement.
ZJ = 1.comfort/pavement 2.utility 3.off road.

XJ = sacrifice pavement travel for off road travel.
ZJ = pavement travel sacrificing off road travel.

This is the best review I have seen. One point missed, the XJ in these parts has a much better resale value. Better long term investment in many ways.

Default Vs.

Thanks Mike H! That's what I was looking for. But I thought that the XJ had more cargo space than the ZJ due to the more squeare body.

The ZJ's size is an illusion... it definately has more interior room for passengers and cargo.
Wheelbase is 5" longer than an XJ, and body is 10" longer than an XJ. The cargo area is definately longer in the ZJ than in the XJ.
