Default XJ tow rig

Is there anyone that's using a Cherokee to tow another Cherokee?
Is it as simple as getting a tow hitch and a trailer?
Is there anything I need to do to get the Cherokee ready to become a 'tow' rig?

Thanks

i had to tow an escort with the jeep it pulled ok, but you might want to think about better brakes if your going to be towing all of the time.

Yeah when i hauled a huge steel trailer with mine, It was only like 15 miles.

You can tell that there is alot of stress on the motor and drivetrain thats for sure.

X 2million....

There are alot more considerations than just power enough to tow...

I tow with a full sized Ford on a two axle trailer with brakes on the axles. There have been times I wish I had some more braking power or a sway control hitch.

Do it, just get an old J1000 or a Cherokee Chief. I would looove to have a Cherokee Chief or J1000 with a Cummins 6bt...modern electronics brakes and everything as a tow rig and then my XJ as a trail rig.

You need a transmission cooler, synthetic fluid in your rear diff and brakes on all the axles of the trailer at minimum. Preferably a sway control hitch and a disc brake conversion in the rear

i pulled a sami on a double axle steel trailer to haspin acres which is about an hour and a half away. we unloaded the sami off the trailer un hooked the trailer from my jeep and wheeled them all day then loaded back up and went home. i also had 33x12.5 boggers and 5 people in the jeep. it pulled alot better than i figured it would. it never scared me when i had to slow down either. my jeep had no front sway bar and it's country roads and hills all the way there. i say go for it....
