he guys i have a 97 xj sport with a manual trans, i bought it about six months ago from my buddy be he didnt have the title cause the guy he got it from "lost it". im sure its not stolen cause it was his DD and he wouldnt have been able to register it if it was.. so now its just sitting in my garage, does anyone know how to go about getting a title for it or should i just sell it?

 

call local courthouse they can get you starting the process

what about the DMV?

 

i talked to the DMV and the only thing they can do is get a dup. title for the guy whos name is on the orig. title. prob is he passed away. its a long story and sounds shady but its really not.

 

ah. Bought a jeep off a coworker whose father in law passed. Know all to well how messed up it can get. I was under the impression that you can go to the DMV or Secretary of State and request a Lost title. But that might be wrong info that i was given.
