my jeep doesnt float every where at high speeds and i dont have sway bars. how fast has me jeep gone dont know maybe the k in km/h. before anyone says anything two lane road two mile straight away no drive ways no traffic. these jeep are fun but fast they are not. i never considered my e46M3 fast so.

IF you decide to remove the limiter or speed please be smart about it. it only takes a blink of a eye for something to go wrong.

Don't over drive the speed rating of your tires.

Look... I'm not one to ever stop going fast, but a Jeep is not the car/suv to ever need to be going that fast. I've buried a 160mph speedo in a mustang cobra, indicated 186 on a sportbike, and have taken my is300 to 130... so speed isnt anything new. But a jeep from the late 70's to early 00's has no business going anywhere close to 120mph. Sorry... sand or not, its f-ing dumb and theres no reason you'd need that kind of speed whatsoever..

Cherokee's were pursuit rated for police work (early 90's to 2001). In fact the first and only 4wd vehicle till the new AWD Fords this year. They did really well on the test track and are very stable if not lifted and modified for off road use. (Most police agencies had put taller tires on them however making them no longer certified, or as stable.)

Ive been 100+ in mine on the lake but have built it for that. No lift, tubular control arms, 235/65/16 wheels, Monroe shocks (Police/Tow option). Handles like its on rails. I do many miles a month on logging roads for my job. It makes the drive into the "sites" fun. Oh yes- disk brake mods all around as I didn't like the original stopping distances.

Just finished some engine mods including Pacesetter header, (modified to miss the front u-joint) oversized cat and Rusty's exhaust system. Im excited to take it back to the dry lake this spring and see if I can hit 120. ( I doubt it but will be fun to try)

Im lusting after a GM 6.2 LS swap right now.

Just don't agree with the "blanket" statement.

The speed limit in some places in my country is 100 mile ,
most places speed limit is 89 we have very long and 5-6 lane streets ..
Its not like your 65 speed limit and police every where we have speed camera but not at 65 -70 mile at the high way !!

I well post a video soon so you can see the streets and understand what i mean .
we are a group of 20+ jeep some of them has 90-91-92 models and they drive 100+ mile without problems for 1-2 hours just make every thing correct in your jeep and you well feel safe don't ignore small problems .

your government should change this low speed limit in the USA is too old we are in 2013
high way speed limit should be 90-95

we can't even get people to drive 55mph here and not crash into each other. anything higher than 65 and we would have graveyards on both sides of our highways every 15 miles.

I like how you said why would you need to go over 118. So up to 118 is ok to go. Lol if I went over 80 in move I'd crap myself the way it likes to get carried with the wind

make the speed limit 95 and people will start dying. after which, there will be a lot less drivers on the road...only those that can drive at that speed. the rest stay on your couches!

on another note, my xj at 65 feels like my infiniti did at 150. not a comfortable feeling

Yeah, I did already.

Did you read mine tho? Different place.

Could be a language barrier, could be a 100mph speed limit like he said.

He also said sand. Who knows?

A stock XJ will do 130mph? Surely he means KPH...
