An idea I tossed around with a friend, basically cut the roof down the middle and the floor in the floor pans hood center and lift gate center, big block and full with axles with 10 inch wide wheels and 35's tons of lift to offset the size of the jeep. Possible?

The same reason people put a bug body on a dually frame. Just to do it. I don't thing there is any rules about practicallity when it comes to projects.

Surfer, obviously there are many obstacles here but have you thought about the windshield. Don't know where you would get a wider one made or you just gonna throw that out?

Hey Classis, you make your narrow 2 seater and sell Surfer the middle section you remove and viola two jeeps made from three with no wasted material.

here's a double wide TJ that one of the local shops did. It's actually kinda cool. It'd be interesting to see a double wide XJ.

Interested to see the outcome, but for the reason your doing it... You can fit a small block chevy in the xj engine bay with alot less work than that... But you'll probably have to plate the unibody to hold up to it.
