My red 96 Jeep use to get a bit hot till I removed the Hood Insulation. I remove that crap from all my vehicles it's just something to catch on fire in my opinion and it has on my 98 dodge ram luckily it went up in my driveway and the hose was already out.

Grand Cherokee fan clutch up grade newer style aux cooling fan no issues ever and im in florida .If your running around town with no issues you throwing more air thru rad. Slow riding air circulations not there ditch crappy three fan setup .Insulation under hood has one purpose keep hoid cooler that's it.

For some reason I was hard headed lets hope you wont be either. I replaced everything on my system and the rad last for some reason.
My list:
Water pump
Upper and lower hoses
Thermostat and housing
Both heater core hoses
Still had over heating issues.
Motor finally gave in and I then done a motor swap.
I figured my issues would be good after that.
Well nope.
I then done a BMW 2spd electric fan install (similar to Taurus)
My A/C condenser was very bad shape, and Compressor was starting to go out.
I removed all of the A/C components and then my cooling issue was better but still not fixed. It would creep when the jeep would have to pull for very long.
When my jeep got warm the rad tanks were really hot but the core of the rad was still cool.
I determined after all of that I had a rad issue.
I bought a new rad and my jeep hasn't hit 210 yet and never turned on high speed on the Efan yet.
New rad cost around 100 for stock style. Just spend the money and rule it out first. You cant hurt the jeep by putting a new rad in. Its also only about 45 min job to replace.
Your issue may not be the same as mine. I put that on here mainly for the others that read this overheating issue thread.
What I have learned from my experince with jeeps
If jeep overheats at speeds and pulling (only) there is a water flow issue.
If jeep overheats at slow speeds and traffic (only) there is air flow issue.
But from now on. If i encounter a jeep with a cooling issue and the rad isn't new it will be first thing replaced.
It may not be 100% correct but makes sense to me.
I do not regret any of my decisions because all of my changes were fixes of old parts or upgrades. If money is the issue it would be better to replace the quality parts first.
IE rad. I would call it the Jeeps heart. If you want your jeep to have a heart attack. Then let have clogged artery and turn red (on the gauge). I like that analogy haha.
