Default Worth it or Not?

I’ve got a chance to pick up a very clean 1996 Jeep Cherokee Sport with 126,000 miles. I haven’t had a chance to see it in person but was wondering what you guys thought about it first, as it’s a few hours from my house. It was regularly serviced and only has a few spots of surface rust on the rockers and underneath it. The only thing that worries me is that the oil pressure gauge and fuel gauge don’t work. I’m not so much worried about the oil gauge as I’m fairly sure it’s just the sending unit. The fuel gauge I’m not so sure about. He's asking $2000 for it, but I'm reasonably sure I can talk him down. So, what do you guys think? Should I see if I can pick it up or let it pass?

I would say that's worth going out and taking a look at! 126k is nothing for a 96 and ifs actually rust free that's a great way to start without any headaches especially here in the north...
Although you did not mention if it was 4WD or not...
I would try to get it down to $1700ish or if you wanna lowball him at $14-1500

Thanks, and sorry I forgot to mention it IS 4WD, he said it shifts between 2, 4 and 4 low nice and smooth. Trans also shifts great through all gears. Should I be concerned about the gas gauge?

Yea thats always an option. Used to do it on one of my old Chevy pickups. Probably going to give the guy a call tomorrow and go take a look at it.
