Default Worst wheeling trip.

So basically my buddy and I planned a wheeling trip yesterday and it went okay. Except for everything that my Jeep took. Here's a few problems:

  • When I started to engage in 4WD, my Jeep would completely shut off.
  • I flexed a little too hard on one side and my driver side fender is dented in and it interferes with opening my door.
  • My engine got too hot (260F+). And the two wires connecting to the battery got completely fried. But we were able to rig it to make it home and do a little electrical taping to it. I still need to get to a mechanic though.
Pictures coming tomorrow, not any of the carnage though. Just some flexes and poser shots. And my buddie's recently lifted S10.

So any ideas on my first problem with the 4WD? I think we'll figure something out about the fender. And about the overheating issue, I'm putting a hold on my bumper plans and investing in some engine mods to keep my engine cool. Sorry if this thread was worthless but I just needed to talk about stuff and get a plan drawn out. Pictures tomorrow, thanks.

sounds like you have a wire tangled up in your transfer case shift linkage and its being yanked out or shorted to ground by the linkage killing the engine.

Yeah well I've taken my Jeep on stock trips and came with no damage, save for a few scratches. It seems like ever since I got lifted and added mud tires that I've gotten more damage.

Yeah, well you're probably trying more than you used to, or a more difficult line.

Armor = priceless.

The 4wd and engine stalling, sounds like a pinched wire. Dents in the fender, either trim it or bump-stop it.

Overheating ----- electric fans, bigger better radiator, zj fan clutch, vents, radiator flush...

poor mans manual fan = unplug the wire going to the A/C compressor and then turn on the A/C inside and the factory electric fan will run all the time.
