NEVER grind/cut/drill something or take something off thinking that the hardest part is over (old rusty parts) without knowing how to install the new stuff and making sure its the RIGHT stuff...live and learn-do as i say NOT as i do! lol

Put TJ fender flares on an XJ - Just doesn't look right IMO.

put on Rusty's stuff. (if you can afford better)

NEVER stay home cause you don't have body armor! Just don't hit anything, look before you leap, and keep her rubber side down.

JeepCoMJ 12-04-2008 12:16 AM

no Fram's for me. my pops is a semi mechanic, and throughout the years I've heard more swearing about fram crap than I needed to, and done more research on it than you can shake a stick at.

bottom line, a cheapo parts master is better filtration wise than a fram.

the absolute best filter is running a genuine mopar filter for your xj...they have great filtration, and an excellent back-pressure valve to keep your valve train lubed up.

that means less engine ticking on startup, because the oil doesn't leak out of your lifters etc. I have a motor that sat for two years, and is still lubed in that area.

whats so bad about synthetic oil?

JeepCoMJ 12-04-2008 12:51 AM

there's nothing wrong with synthetic. apparently he thinks so, but I like synth alot. just not in my jeeps :P...i do oil changes every 1500 miles though (cause it's usually around 3 months when I get that many on them...gotta love the company vehicle)

the filter is the more serious issue.

Starbuck75 12-04-2008 12:54 AM

yea i just changed my oil and i put in quakerstat 5w30 for winter with a mopar equivalent filter plus some oil aditive that kicks *** , wich allows me to run oil longer in my engine,
how often do u change ure tranny fluid ?

JeepCoMJ 12-04-2008 12:59 AM

I check the trans fluid every outing, and change it probably once a year, and a filter around every 20,000 miles or upon install of the trans (I haven't made it to 20k on an aw4 yet, though I've done changes on some friends at that interval)

another what not to do;

don't wheel without checking fluids prior to wheeling, and don't drive home without checking fluids after wheeling.

Starbuck75 12-04-2008 01:03 AM

yea thats same i do on mine i have to get around to that too lol, frigin winter.

BRING FOOD whenever u go out, a full offroader is a happy off-roader, not to mention if you happen to spend the night in a particularily bad mudhole.
