Howler GT....I run a Fram oil filter with Synthetic...whats the problem with that....

XJ Stryker 11-28-2008 10:16 AM

Fram has the worst filtration out there hence being so CHEAP. Dump it and run a better filter.

put off routine maintence.
install a lift kit before you install armor (provided you are going to use the lift for it's intended purpose).
attempt an unfamiliar water crossing without checking it out.
install lift, armour, big tires and run junk brakes.

What's wrong about a lift kit without armor? I have a tranny skid plate, but that's it.

Yeah, that's a pool they're pulling it out of.

Poor XJ.
the worst thing that ive seen was a lowered xj with a three tone paint job... i felt even sorrier for it

hubbazoot 11-28-2008 09:30 PM

Oh my god.... that owner should have his knees shot out.
Or at least the right one so he can't drive :D
I'll adopt that jeep, give it a good home where it'll be loved.
I saw a jeep today with plywood where their grill should be. Apparently they dinged the front and broke the grill, so they NAILED plywood over the spot for the grill...that's gotta be good for their engine temperature..

A lifted XJ is going to get you into places where you're going to need, or wish you had armor. I've met several folks running lifted rig's with no armour, that are held back to 'unchallenging' terrain on account of not having armour... on the other hand a budget boost and armoured XJ can run some pretty dang rugged terrain.
I suppose there are two schools of thought here...
One being folks that buy armour yet never intend on 'using' it...
The other being folks that buy armour and use it as tools to enhance the capabilities of the rig.

3. Place a : "If you can read this...I need more mud"
"If you can read this...roll me over"

4. Install the "Roll Me Over" sticker from #3 right-side up. Shows the people behind you in mall traffic that you are an idiot.

5. Spend an outrageous amount of money to outfit your XJ with items that you will NEVER ever use just because they "look cool"

whats wrong with number 2. i use fram and full synthetic oil and my motor has 240,000 + miles. its helping get all that carbon crap out, disolving it, that was in it when i bought it.when i changed the valve cover gasket, i vacuumed all that loose crap out from around the rocker arms. both valve breathers were clogged up with it too. just wondering.

offroadnut36 11-30-2008 12:47 AM

I agree. I don't use anything but Fram. Every filter on all 4 of my cars is a Fram. Every car I had had Fram stuff on it. Hell, every race engine I've been around had a Fram on it. Well, except the Purolator and Wix sponsored guys. If someone is willing to trust a $30,000+ engine to Fram, I'll trust it on anything.

Never drive without your front swaybar connected down the road.

As for a Filter I use a Tough Guard Fram Filter with 10w-40 Pennzoil oil.
