ive been going back and forth about this. i cant decide wether to go with the smittybuilt XRC8 winch. OR the Gorilla 8000lb winch. both are priced pretty close. now the XRC8 has a 172.8:1 pulling ratio AND the gorilla has a 235:1 ratio. is a higher ratio better or the other way around? anyone with either one of these winches, i want to hear from you. my buddy is running the gorilla, and he says he's happy with it. i just want a few more opinions before i go buying. thanks guys.

The gorilla is going to pull slow as hell with that ratio, the XRC8 is already pretty slow but I can vouch for their toughness.
I would say go for the XRC8, you won't be dissapointed. My buddie has the XRC8 and he also did the wireless conversion which is very handy.

wireless is dangerous. keep fingers far away with that setup.
not to mention, radio waves can start your winch up at any moment. i've seen it happen and the carnage it left behind.
if you think you're gonna use your winch alot, grab a used warn. bonus if you can find an 8274.
but if you're stuck on one of the two you've mentioned, get the smitty.
