Its definitely not an xj nor will it ever be respected like our xjs. The back of it reminds me of a mini van. And resembles nothing of an xj besides its Cherokee name. The front is almost cool looking and the trail hawk addition is sorta cool but a bone stock xj will still out do it easy if ya ask me. Id get a commander or new grand Cherokee be4 I would the new KL. Well I think I'm done with my "new Cherokee review" haha

I'd have tagged it the PU. I've heard this new mini van will come with soccer ball storage and preferred parking up front at all the big malls. It's not an XJ, it's a tumour. Someone at Chrysler needs to be spanked. Jeep does not require a mini van or a crossover ( must be latin term for mini van in the wrong lane ) in the product line up. This is Jeep. Nature will find a way to resolve this; like precision acid raining. I can't wait for the next C for C campaign to target these. Will myth busters start blowing these up in 2015? I'd watch the show again. Is this what comes of being infested with Daimler and Fiat influence?
Did they bring the Plymouth design team out of the closet? Oh, did I mention I am not a fan of the traditional name being applied to the non traditional new product model?
Just my 2 cents less a penny, probable still an overpriced opinion.
To each their own, just not in my back yard mudhole.

XJ = 1984-2001 Cherokee/Wagoneer
KJ = 2002-2007 Liberty in NA, Cherokee everywhere else
XK = 2006-2010 Commander
KK = 2008-2013 Liberty in NA, Cherokee everywhere else
KL = 2014-???? Cherokee
Why does a "Jeep" have a feature to help you find parking spots in a mall when you're too busy texting to look out the window? Zillion speed transmission, okay. FWD/AWD, okay. Base model that is functionally a sedan, okay. Place to hang grocery bags, okay. But what the hell. It literally senses gaps in vehicles as you drive past. I cannot explain this.
Sure they do, Jeep is the ONLY division of Chrysler that makes any damn money! They need one of everything! Seriously though, the minivan/crossover is the Grand Cherokee, and they still have the Patriot and Compass to fill these niches.
It is considering 2 cents is rounded down now!

Jeep needs to bring back the XJ, CJ-10, MJ, and SJ before they bring Cherokee back with this crap. Turning more into luxury vehicles now...the first Jeep didnt even have doors or a top, it just got any job done that was thrown at it.

I don't think it looks that bad. I've seen their "off-road" video and it's like a sad joke, but I don't think you guys have shopped for cars lately. First off, Jeep still makes the Wrangler, you can buy that if you want. Most modern cars have blind-spot monitoring, parking assistance, radar cruise control, auto high beams, auto wipers, auto brakes, mobile phone sync, etc. You could apply most of what you're saying to the entire industry. Ford is developing a system that will scan gaps along the road and parallel park a car completely on it's own, with no driver input.
Jeep is keeping up and staying relevant. If I want something with AWD, to take a long road trip (where MPG counts), be able to pull a trailer, drive on dirt, and be fairly comfortable, are you saying that I should not buy a Jeep, and go for a Subaru Outback, Ford Escape or Chevy Equinox instead? Should Jeep forgo that revenue in order to preserve the image of our 10-30 year old vehicles?

Mixed feelings. Your head does turn, after all
Stupid. If you can't park, don't drive.
Bosch calls this "Adaptive Cruise Control" in their eighth edition Automotive Handbook, and the idea has some merit (primarily because the nitnoys on the road these days can't pick a damned speed and drive it!)
Why? This strikes me as a bit less useful than DRL or TPMS...
You can't figure out it's raining by looking out the window?
Automatically do what?
NO. Just NO. And, there's even talk of showing adverts on in-dash displays - this strikes me as nothing more nor less than a display of criminal weapons-grade stupidity.

You wouldn't use a sledgehammer to drive nails into wood paneling, nor would you use a tack hammer to drive a railroad spike. Why does every vehicle in production have to be expected to do anything anywhere - whatever happened to individual character and getting one or two jobs done very well (instead of doing every job in a half-assed manner?)
EDIT - In case you haven't guessed, I'm not a fan of feature creep. I'm even less a fan of any purported "safety device" that merely allows a driver to abdicate responsibility in controlling the vehicle.
5-90, I absolutely agree, most of those "safety" features are just going to lead to worse drivers. People would rather be texting or reading email than driving, and the more they can get away with, the less they will pay attention to what they're doing. It's so easy to drive, yet people manage to screw it up all the time.
I've even disabled my key/headlight buzzer and cruise control. If I buy a new car, I'll skip every option I can, and if I can't skip something I'll figure out how to disable it.
From the pictures and video I've seen, the new Cherokee has a hard time keeping four wheels on the ground, even on very mild terrain. I'm hoping that there will be some aftermarket improvements that make it more capable off-road.
