bringing this conversation back with an update.

i finished trimming my front and rolling the rear fenders. i will be folding the rear 1/4's very soon. i have a bb and a 3" and as i've said before..235's. so im going to install my bb and see how it looks. im thinking it would look stupid with the 3" lift. but here she is stock.

I was in this same debate and have now decided to go ahead with the 3" lift from zone offroad. I believe it'll be around 300 shipped but the reviews look well worth it. And I'd rather have a proven lift w/ shocks included than a cheapo bb being that its my dd.

true. i agree. so i decided im gonna try to wait and see if i can get some used tires for now. i also figured that if i have to take the leafs almost completely off for the shackles...that i might as well install the new leafs.

The 3" is an actual suspension lift, so better flex and more accurate spring rates will come into play.. You'll be happier! And DEF look into low COG! It's legit!

I got mine with a 2" lift and didn't notice it at all, until I would park next to other XJs. Its not much but its more fun in the winter and I use it as a DD with highway driving every day. Get some 235s and some tow hooks and you'll feel better about it. Some of us need practicality with our fun.

I doubt you are going to get an answer from him. No post sense 2013.

I have a 3.5" OME lift. Got it from DPG. You can't go wrong with OME or DPG. The medium duty is fine if your not going to be adding heavy bumper or hauling heavy stuff. It's an expensive 2.5" lift so really make sure that's all the lift you want before ordering.

I installed 2" BDS coils, shocks and AAL as soon as I bought it, threw on some 235/75/15 Cooper AT3's. Then I joined the forum and now I'm working on going up to 3.5" springs and leafs with 31X10.5X15's on Soft 8's. Although a buddy gave me a TC lowering kit, after a lot of reading here I will go with a SYE instead.

IMHO a 2-2 1/2" lift is a total waste of money go with at least a 3" full leaf/coil package with shocks and hardware. Either save your money for a while and spend just a little more and do it right the first time.

When you buy any of these entry level kit packages what your paying for are the leafs/coils mostly. The 3" kits from Rustys Off Road have American made leafs/coils where most of the others are using imported ones from China for about the same price but no where the quality.

Here is the original photo of my Rustys 3" lift

I'm still running my original Rustys 3" leafs from my 3" kit now but with 1 1/2" Boomerang Shackles and 4 1/2" coils.

Now with a 4 1/2" lift and extras both running 33x12:50x15's on Cragar Soft Eights 15x8" with 3 3/4" BS.

Default Xj response team

Thanks for your response guys , appreciate it. Well my Xj is currently a pavement queen mostly highway and backroads to work/some trips to beach/very light trails for fishing and stuff. I have thought long and hard about which size lift to start off with. I want a new suspension (quality&comfort) without messing too much with the aerodynamics. I will only get OME for this XJ. Now the tires I'm a little undecisive 30" or 31"?
Save 1-2mpg or bigger tires simply because it LOOKS good. 😎
