craigslist is actually great for selling jeep parts. most all of the people I've met that are selling jeep parts are good wholesome honest folks just like myself. jeeps seem to attract those types while the sketchy people tend to stay away from the brand.. just post a CL ad, leave your phone number like this
916-7four8-86oneseven
and you'll have no problems

ya but everyone on craigslist aren't like us where they really will tell you the truth about the car plus there are a lot of creeps where young girls and guys looking to buy a car that are to scared to drive alone to look at one. at least on fb you can scope the person out scope the car out and ask their friends about the car. don't get me wrong i love craigslist but fb seems to have a lot more options and quicker response. all i'm saying is don't limit your car to one source for selling or it will take forever.

Heres my cl ad and ive got it cross posted on atleast 10 other places.

Frankly, I was not aware that Facebook was a venue for selling cars. I'm on FB but don't have a lot of time for it.
It is unfortunate that there are some questionable characters on CL. However, I suspect it will not be long till they migrate to FB as well.
When I bought my Jeep, I went with my wife to meet the seller at a shopping center; he was a young accountant who lived in a gated community. I did not know him or his vehicle, but do know enough to evaluate it. I also had exchanged several emails with him with background questions. His answers were good so I moved ahead.
When I sell something on CL and get an email regarding the item, I usually add the information that I'm 67 years old, a professional, and in a nice neighborhood so no security worries. The fact that I mention this seems to make most folks comfortable.

263,000 miles, a missing interior door panel and possible missing the center console?????
$3500 is a stretch even with the new shoes. People are terrified by 1/4 million miles, that many miles will stop 90% of people in their tracks.

I have sold alot of cars on craigslist... all for cash... More pictures, and better pictures definitely help a lot. Putting CHEAP in the title with 263k asking 3500 firm isnt really doing much for you.
I would have put around 4k OBO then tell people 3500 is the bottom dollar if they ask. Explain what parts on the front end are new, explain the overall condition, pin point every issue down to detail that you know of, say in the ad its missing a door panel and center console rather then just a picture.
People also only see one side of it and they might think the other side has mismatched paint, smashed, or rusty.
Here is an explain of just the wording I have on an ad for my jeep I recently rolled that I was going to use but I ended up changing my mind on selling it. At the end I would of included my price, if im negotiable, and my phone number, and when to call if only specific times.

1999 Jeep Cherokee XJ LIFTED *ROLLED* (Runs and drives)
THIS JEEP HAS BEEN ROLLED, IT IS RELIABLE AS EVER BUT NOT A DAILY DRIVER, NEEDS WORK UNLESS MADE TRAIL RIG
Selling my 99 cherokee xj. Recently rolled offroading. The windshield has been removed, and the roof straightened a decent bit with a portapower. The front 2 door windows are gone from shattering, along with the driver back back window. The headline was cut out from the cargo section forward. The jeep is running and driving, can drive it home if you bring a set of glasses since it has no windshield. This was my daily driver up until 8/16/2014 when it rolled. It has a new set of plugs in it, but missing the air filter.
Has 169k miles on it, runs, drives, shifts like a champ, 4x4 works great. 4.0 Inline 6, aw4 trans, D30HP/C8.25 np231. Have over $7k in receipts from the previous owner before I bought it... In the past 6 months, it has had new front axle u joints, new front wheel hubs, new alternator, new radiator, new thermostat, new valve cover gasket, and some other matience I can't think of.
Has a 4.5" rough country lift, full leafs in the back, and 4.5 coils in the front, rough country control arms, rough country shocks, stock track bar, extended front brake lines, no sway bars it flexes like a dream for short arms, Sitting on 33x12.5r15 All-terrain tires with around 30-40% tread on 15x8 Eagle Alloy rims. Tires need replacing but did alot more then I would have expected in mud and rocks.
Body is rust free, along with unibody, back quarters are herculined along with rear bumper and lower doors. Whole driver quarter was replaced due to rust it was cut out and a new one welded in. I have pictures of everything if it even matters. Rear quarters were trimmed with cut and fold method, same with front fenders to retain fender liners. I have welded 2x4 square steel in place of the rocker panels as sort of a slider, never braced to unbody though because I didn't have the time before the roll over happened. It has removable lift off front doors like the wranglers, quick wiring disconnects too still work and open/close.
Has hitch in the rear, and Aresfab Stinger front bumper, with steering box support and unibody tie ins. Interior cleans up well, was a NICE looking jeep inside and out before roll over.
Thats all I can think of for now.. Ask me anything, this jeep has came A LONG way since I bought it and I'm sure im forgetting things.

My dad makes his living buying and selling used cars and trailers.
Odviously he buys cheap in an effort to sell higher to turn a profit. His rule of thumb, that he never breaks, is 5-7000 miles for every year of vehicle life. That is considered low milage given the age.
From a buyer perspective a 97 with around 100k-125k would be attractive.
This is a high milage vehicle with over 15k per year.
Only a Jeeper or an offroad enthusiast will see the value in the Mods, the average person will just see and over priced vehicle.
