why are some control arms bent?

Default why are some control arms bent?

so im gona make my own upper and lower control arms but looking at some why do they sell some that have a bend in them and some just straight? also is the length of an aftermarket arm the same as a stock one?

Aftermarket LCA's will be longer to preserve your caster angle for steering and alignment geometry. Also, if your LCA is straight for a large lift, you will get binding if you flex your front suspension much. Camber out of spec will ensure death wobble in your front end.

long control arm kits usually have straight ones just because theyre long enough to cut down the angle but short arms tend to
Be bent or adjustable for larger kits so that they don't bind and so to keep everything in alignment better.

Making control arms is more than just longer arms. I would do some research so you know what your getting into.

ive built link arms before but never for a jeep or for a solid front axle for that matter. ive only built four links for the rear of a leaf spring vehicles. thanks for the help.

so if i go with a 3" lift i have to get atleast lower control arms for allignment? and is it better to have them adjustable or fixed?

Rough country sells lower control arms adjustable for factory to 4.5" for around $160.00 .its hard to build them for that.
