Add "-grand" to your search, like so:

Craigslist: cherokee -grand

Ebay: cherokee -grand

It works on SearchTempest.com also, if you're trying to search more than one CL city. The minus sign tells the search engine to remove results with that word. It doesn't strip out the postings from stupid fools who don't know the difference and list Grand Cherokees as Cherokees, but it catches the rest and makes it a lot easier to browse XJs instead.

XJs started 9 years before the ZJ so it had a bigger head start, and when you check total number of grand cherokees (both ZJ and WJ) they total over 3 million. from what i read XJs was more around 2.3 million which is still a lot.

Roughly 2.93 million XJ's from 84-01. The thing is, there have been far more XJ's owned and destroyed by unlucky (sometimes **** happens on the trail) or straight irresponsible (some people's idea of "custom" is no better than deliberately totaling the vehicle in their garage) wheelers over the years which has reduced supply some, and the XJ is more desirable by enthusiasts today, so they're not for sale as often and relatively more expensive when the good ones are for sale.

Technically the ZJ and WJ are two different body styles, two different vehicles actually. They may have some of the same components but then again the XJ shares some of those components as well. If you just mean Grands overall then I suppose you could include the WK, WK2 and what ever the latest one is as well. Certainly then it might add to more.

As an aside, you might even be able to add the ZJ to the XJ's count as it originally was to be the new replacement Cherokee for the XJ body. The XJ was still selling so well Chrysler decided to produce both.

Picked up a parts car that a tree fell on,, pulled all salvageable parts,, still looking for a somewhat rust free body.

When I suggested a ZJ instead of a XJ my Son said "That would get you beat up in school"

He needs to go to a different school then or stay away from such stupid people, check out the WJ's.

The 04 WJ was the last yr that Jeep made a real "Grand Cherokee" that was still very good off road and loaded with everything 4.7HO, lsd's f&r,, D30/D44a like an Overland edition with Up Country pkg. skid plates, rocker skids all included for around $3-$3500.

xjs just have that aura about them. I know when I was in high school I didn't want no stinking grand cherokee. I wanted the xj. Yeah grands are probably capable they just don't have the "reputation" the xj has.

At my HS if you didnt have a 4x4 you were considered a "city slicker". There were probably 12 or so xjs probably 5 zjs countless pickups and even a jeep liberty. but then again my graduating class was only 106 cause we live in the sticks
