I live in west Salem, OR! I've been here for almost a month now and I drove my 87 pioneer all the way from Shawnee, OK (THATS 2003.2 MILES THE WAY I TOOK) Along the way I couldn't tell u how many Jeeps I passed n waved at but I CAN tell u how many waved back!!! Here n OR I've only seen 3 other lifted XJ's (one of em's a kid the goes to high-school with my son) and they all have waved atleast once!!! I REALLY LIKE GETTIN PEOPLE FOLLOWIN ME AROUND JUST TO ASK ME WHERE I GOT MY JEEP!!!!! love the reaction on their faces when I tell em FROM A JUNKYARD WITH NO MOTOR, TRANNY, WHEELS OR TIRES, AND NO GLASS!!!! I BUILT MY RIG!!!!!
So i don't know if it just the jeep owners here in albuquerque, but i have noticed this new trend of people driving lifted jeeps, and unfortunately i have also noticed a trend of hardly any of them waiving when you do the jeep wave. I don't know maybe its just me i grew up around jeeps and in washington where i am originally from if you drive a jeep lifted or not(but mostly lifted) you wave at each other..i just dont get it i drove by a guy today that i know for a fact saw me wave and he just kept driving. And i know of a guy driving another lifted cherokee who flipped my buddy in his lifted cherokee off the other day..this is just not right i mean we all say "its a jeep thing" for a reason right. GRRR..sorry for the long post about this i just think today was the icing on the cake for me today when it came to this issue and wanted to see if its the same all around the country or just ABQ.
Dude, you live in Albuquerque. Nobody waves there, everyone is to busy staring at eachother to do so. (I lived there for 5 years). Albuquerque was by far one of the rudest places I've ever lived lol... but free health care was badass.

thats like the other day i parked next to a guy in a red lifted cherokee, and i had my doors off and everything and he's walking out as i parked, he doesnt even look at me and im like hey nice jeep, and he was like huh? and i said nice jeep man and he was like oh yeah its cool right? i said yeah its nice, and he said yeah its got a 6 and a half inch lift and 38s, i was like uhhh no it doesnt its shorter then mine and i only have a 4.5 inch with 33s dude, and he was like well thats what my dad told me when i bought it, i just walked away haha, its like half of the people that own jeeps nowadays dont even know what they are doing with them, let alone know about the jeep wave, there are very few people who do wave anymore

as of two weeks ago i have waved at every jeep ive seen from boston to maine and back. I have gotten one and a half waves in return.
the half wave was a chick in a brand new yellow wrangler. lol it was funny cuz it seemed like she may have heard about this "jeep thing" but wasn't sure what it was all about.
Lol... Southern Maine is the "other" maine. So Maine is where the population is, the rest of maine is where the people are (If that makes sense). My residence is in a town of 300... and I dont even live in The County. But Im still surprised southern mainers didnt wave, they are usually still courteous.
The only place Id expect that rudeness is Bar Harbour... maybe.

:disgusting: it should be mandatory for every keeper to attend a jeep jamboree ... one of the first day I had my xj I went to autozone to buy an 02 sensor and this aussie dude and I started talking about our xjs and now me n and him are good friends and he has helped me with whatever and I repaid him at every oppurtunity... this is what the jeeplets need ... a friendly community of ppl united under a single vehicle name

That alone gave me a deep appreciation for 4 wheelers in general. My Jeepin' days started in '94 after I "expired" my Ram's 318 for the second time in two years. It was then that I met an even better, more personable and genuine class of people in the fellow Jeepsters that I encountered. My Jeeps have never really been built-up and modded but that doesn't, and shouldn't, detract from how I feel about every other one I see. Think of it this way - waving is "learned not automatic" - we all bought our Jeeps (new or used). As long as you built/serviced it yourself or have experienced an act of kindness from another Jeep owner, sooner or later you (and other Jeep owners) will appreciate the sentiment and will be either a "waver" or a "wavee" - so keep on promoting that good-natured action and don't stop waving! How else can you teach the Jeepness of Jeepdom?
