I started driving jeeps at the age of 6 ('79 4.0 4sp CJ-7) and have had the bug ever since. Aside from that they have bullit proof engines and are easily maintainable overall. They are a good value and have a "cult" following where you can get all the support you need.

You ever actually owned a wrangler? Hate to burst your bubble, but wranglers are the most capable 4x4 out of the box, than any other vehicle. I know 10x as many capable wranglers than I do xj's. There are more aftermarket options and products available for wranglers than xj's.
That said, they are not for everyone. If you need a heep that can do highway, as well as trails - the xj fits the bill. Same reliable engine, trans, and transfer case, but more storage, and more highway friendly.
There is no need to bash wranglers, unless you have an envy that you cannot reconcile!

Well it all started with my dad. He had a small truck that went out and he then bought a 95 cherokee sport. The truck i can barely remember but most of my memories are from him and I working on the jeep. Over 15 years hes had it. He had the truck for 2 years then it died. SO 15+2=17 so thats how old i am. Now with my license, I was originally supposed to buy his from him for 1k but I couldnt do that to him for he loved his jeep and I knew that. Working with jeeps and working on them is all i have ever known. If you gave me any other vehicle to fix, I wouldnt know how to. Since he loved his 95 I found this Green 98 cherokee classic for 2,400 dollars and PAYED CASH FOR IT. He was upset at first since i was supposed to buy his from him but now he and I have grown so close togethor because of us having jeeps to drive and mud togethor.

Been driving a Jeep since HighSchool and I graduated in 66. Started with a CJ2A and have had several CJ5s and 7s. Needed something to haul groceries and kids at the same time and XJs fit just perfectly. As for cars well I have had several BMWs and MBs and really like how well they are made but they are way to expensive to buy parts for.
So I am back into Jeeps and have been since the grandkids came along. Have a 90XJ and an 89MJ at present.
