There's black wheels and there's the "chrome" ones. Other than beadlocks with colored rings how many other options are there really?

Hmm.

Buy fancy, shiny wheels, take XJ offroad, scratch up, spend hours polishing and cleaning

OR

Buy cheap, black wheels, take XJ offroad, scratch up and repair with a $3 can of black spray paint.

Seems obvious to me... maybe I'm weird.

I've spent hours polishing the chrome bumpers and trim on my Cutlass, and that's a car I never even drove in the rain, much less down a dirt road.

I couldn't fathom why anyone would ever want to put chrome rims on their OFF ROAD vehicle.

I detail cars for a living... I've cleaned enough chrome rims for a life time. If you don't clean them constantly, they look like garbage. Black wheels look good pretty much all of the time, they're cheaper, and if you bend one you can pound it back out with a hammer to at least get off the trail.

This was how it is was told to me buy a shop. People buy black cause the finish handles the abuse better. Also polished or chrome finishes aren't as strong as they used to be.

If you buy anything other than black 15x8's you're doing it wrong....

I'm taking off my clear coated alloys tomorrow and installing a set of BLACK Steel wheels.

I prefer steel wheels for wheeling and the finish on my alloys is corroded pretty bad

You like the discussion...? You're going to have some of that super sexy chrome spray paint?

You started a thread to have people tell you something that is extremely obvious?

There was a guy on here that one one red wheel, one blue wheel and I think the other two wheels were yellow.
