Had 31's wheeled pretty hard on them with a trutrac, now running 33's, mine in a manual and I just go easy on the skinny pedal. Plus I'm not a hard core rock guy, just trials.

I've got 34x12.5's on my 35 (sadly she's open). I haven't had any problems with it yet, and I haven't been easy on it (including burnouts.. or 1 wheel peel lol).

I am on the lookout for an 8.25 or 44 though.

I have a Dana 35 with stock 3.55's on 32's no locker or lsd. I haven't run it that long. I've had no problems but with the reputation that they have, I am shopping for a better rear axle. I hate going on a trail or climbing rocks wondering when the axle is gonna snap. Kinda kills the whole ride. Yeah, I've heard a million times "if you go easy on the skinny pedal....." Yeah, screw that. If I'm in a mud puddle, I don't want to worry about snapping my axle trying to get out. PLUS, if you want to go with a locker in it, forget it. Just hand me the $300 and call it a day. Cause you're wasting your money.

I have a 2000 XJ with the Dana 35 rear axle. Hearing lots of bad stories about the Dana 35. Am I wasting my time lifting the jeep if the axle may break in the future or is it just luck of the draw and some Dana 35's hold up better than others?

Also, is it a waste of money putting a rear locker in the Dana 35? Do they even make one for the 2000 XJ with a Dana 35?

I am not into the rock crawling, just the occasional off roading and light mud holes. No mud bogging. Will the Dana 35 hold up to this?

Yes, I am a newb.

It's ok to ask... no worries... Honestly I think that If you are occasionally wheeling and not to hard core I would look into a really good limited slip. I went the locker route because a). I needed a new diff since the original one got smoked when i sank my jeep and this was available and cheap and b). I wheel my about three times a week and got tired of having to really rev mine to get the limited slip to work the way I wanted. You will have to learn how to drive a different way because of the locker so keep that in mind. Once you are used to it it's nothing though. Hope this helps.
