That's true, And also why I have the Bose AM 15 lifestyle (10 speaker cube array w/ powered sub) in my living room. Had them since they came out. Surround sound is best half of the any movie. I love them, and will never get rid of them. Especially during football games.

the guy before me had a nice system in the heep. he took everything except the door and hatch speakers (pioneer).
so, i threw in a stock xj stereo and it does sound quite nice just the way it is.
i have a charger/transmitter that sends my ipod music to a station on the stereo. good enough for me.
it's funny, i had the jeep for 2 years before i even put a stereo in it to know there were speakers in the doors.

Almost 40 here. I killed enough of my hearing in the late 80's and early 90's, and to be honest rarely listen to music in the car anymore. It's a relief that the stock Cherokee system and speakers aren't that great.
Sometimes the sound of the engine (and listening for problems!) is all the music I need!

Young readers -- save your hearing. Ever go to a live concert? Look closely at all the performers; they're wearing ear plugs. You should be too.
I'm not sure you understand. When your ability to hear highs and lows is gone, and invariably turning on the radio at a level you can hear has everybody else in the car complaining, it is not worth it.

psh, it be sick if you older gents threw in a nice sound system. there is a definite point of overkill (like rich kids putting 4 12" subs in the rear) but having a nice sound system is awesome.
im wanting 12s in the rear with a sound bar on the ceiling. i understand that my ears would be ringing with speakers so close to my head, but i wouldnt crank it up giving me a concussion
doing this so i can take doors on and off and not worry about damaging the speakers that id be using at the time...

Dang, ive got no CD player, my drivers side front speaker doesnt work at all, and the rest are about to die. As long as i can still hear Josh Thompson comming from at least one speaker then im good.

My wifes stock system kicks. I love the solid full sound it gives. She acts like she doesnt understand why I would want a better system. She acts like she cant tell the difference but I know she can. Well, I am hooking the sub and amp up this weekend. I am starting a job this week with a longer commute and I want to have better sound. Plus I hate having this great head unit and not getting the most out of it.
yeah im not 40 (half that actually) but like my dad always tells me you're never too old for loud music. and besides when you do get older you're gonna need those loud speakers to hear it later anyway
I'm not 40, but love some bump. I have an alpine headunit with the iPod hook up, runnin focal components up front. Two sets of soundstream tweeters, Memphis audio 6x9's in the rear, and a MTX 12 in the thunder box. Also to push everything, I'm runnin two JL audio 800 watt amps, all zero gauge wiring and the big three upgrade with zero gauge wiring. oh yeah, and a stinger volt meter to watch my volts.
