Default Whos 40 yrs old with a sound system

I dont have much and I appreciate a good quality sound system. Not booming, but just nice full rich sound. I have very nice alpine head unit and I looking at some door and sound bar speakers. I have an amp and 10" sub sitting in my garage that I removed from my last truck. My wife thinks I am getting too old for that at 38 years old. I dont listen to rap music, just some good old fashion classic rock. A part of me does feel a little old for this but I do love a nice sound system. I argue its no different than the nice surround sound we have for the house. Who else here runs a nice sound system in the Jeep?

42 and have a single 10" woofer, 400 watt amp, Rockford two ways in the front and rear doors, Polk 1" tweeters in the front doors, and an Alpine head unit with my ipod hooked up to it. Just enough bump to make the kids smile, but the sound is very good with most types of music.

I'm 31 and I have 2x12s in a sealed box in my Civic with 6.5" Kickers in the doors, 800W Sony amp and an Alpine head. I don't listen to rap, but I love to hear bass guitar. Everything from Rush, Dire Straits, Creedance, and Steve Vai to Muse, Incubus, Dredg, and Dragonforce. Honestly, I listen to talk radio more than anything lately, but I still like my sound. Subs aren't about stupid booming, they're about filling out the low end.

Now, the Civic is a little bit overkill, but I built it for longevity. I've had that same setup for 8 years without a single problem.

I used to think that my wife thought it was silly, until she asked me when I was going to put bumps in her car. Now she's got 1x12 ported with an alpine amp in her CRV. Makes sense... she's a bass player (one of the many reasons I married her).

My XJ will be getting a sub in the rear cubby and new mids once I get the interior back together and the rest of my more important upgrades done.

You're never too old for good sound if you appreciate music.

Yea, I think I will be hooking up the sub this weekend. I miss the sound. My wife's Grand Cherokee has a great stock stereo system. Nice bass and really balanced sound. My XJ sounds like *** with the stock speakers. Time to upgrade the sound.

I too am in my fourties and appreciate a great sound system in my vehicles, being that I was doing the car audio install thing for more than 15 years (and still do it from time to time to help out a local shop)... unfortunately most of my equipment is still in a box packed away. Engine rebuild comes first.

I'm 45 and don't have a great sound system on my xj but can certainly understand what you mean. My other car has a better sound system from the factory, it is so much more enjoyable to listen to my favorate music. Like you, I like classic rock. I'd consider a good sound system for my xj but the ac doesn't work, would have to have that fixed before the system goes in, too much money to spend on my old girl. If you can afford a better sound system just do it. I'd say I'm too old to be chasing young girls but not to listen to the stones or zeppelin a bit too high, ehh hem.

I'm 53, And have two 5 1/4's, in the front doors (3 way, full range). Two 6x9's in the rear hatch (3 way, full range). 10" sub in the rear passenger pocket. Speaker are all Rockford Fosgates. A 1400 watt Pyle 5 channel amp under rear seat. Gives me 250 watts to each of the four corners. And 400 watts to the sub. It took me 2 1/2 days to put in, But worth the effort. Looks like a factory install. And sounds like a concert hall. (I did go back a year later, and painted the speaker grilles. Gray to match the interior, they where black originally.) Less obvious to would be thieves. When any thumpers pull up next to me in traffic, I can give them a taste. But I have all the highs, and mids. To go with it, And just as loud. Not just the bass. Oh yea, I mostly listen to blues, and rock and roll. Never too old, for rock & roll.

Almost 40 here. I killed enough of my hearing in the late 80's and early 90's, and to be honest rarely listen to music in the car anymore. It's a relief that the stock Cherokee system and speakers aren't that great.

Sometimes the sound of the engine (and listening for problems!) is all the music I need!

X2. Almost def in one ear do to loud systems plus with a 2yr old daughter I have to keep it low for her. I still have the stock infinity stuff minus the 2 rear 6.5 in the sound bar. Put some sony's back there.
