Hey guys
Just moved back to MN from FL and this is the first 2wd RWD I will have ever owned in the winter.
Just wondering how they handle/ stop ( no abs ) and drive though the snow.
Im also curious to see what tires people are running and how well they do

I have a 4x4 but drive around in 2WD in the winter (michigan) and they get sideways very easy if your not careful. As far a braking it just sucks keep your distance from everything and use the pluse method.

Tires tires tires.... They are a shorter wheel base so the back end likes to try and get places faster than the front! but if you start of slow and what not, you should be fine. Just get a really good set of snow tires like bizzaks!!

Used to have a 2wd xj many years ago. Get some really good tires and slow down and you'll be fine. Did I mention get some really good tires? Maybe even a set of studded or tire chains.
A comanche has a light rear end (like most other pick ups) and will struggle at even taking off in snow unless the front wheels are engaged (rwd suvs are just almost as bad)...
And if you were to get 6 inches of snow, that truck will not go anywhere unless it was in 4HI...

True, my 94's t-case was screwed up by the P.O. Go figure! I drove it with the front prop shaft out for a little over a year with liberator a/t's and never really had any trouble... Showed a 4x4 s-10 blazer up in the mud a couple of times too!

Made him feel bad when he found out my t-case was busted and still showed him up! Traction is part of what type of rubber you have on the road, and part your own driving habits.

tires can play a big part not just in the snow but in every day driving so pay the money and get some good ones. i have the interco trxus m/ts on my xj and they are great in snow weither its light or deep. ice is what you gotta watch out for since the tire lugs are spaced really far apart. my buddy has a 94 longbed dakota with super swamper SSRs on it and it gets him anywhere he needs. if your not planning on wheeling you xj (i really hope your nto with a 2wd) then get some street tires for the summer months, then spend the money on some SSRs and youll be glad you did.
my dads father inlaw has a 2wd 5 speed xj that he drives year round. all he does is throw a few sandbags in the back of it and hes fine. his wifes actually got a 2wd 4 cyl wrangler too. theyre both fine with a decent set of tires on them.
