Question Where to Munt a CB in a 97+

I searched but couldnt find a thread that had any posted up pics to where u guys have mounted ur CBs in a 1997+ model XJ?? I used to have mine up between the visors on my 95, (love that location!), but now i have a 98 with the roof console. I havent bought a new one yet since the fire & was thinkin of gettin a smaller one & puttin it in the roof console piece somewhere, somehow. Can i get some pics & ideas here please??

Thats what i figured the replies would be, but thats the last place i wanna mount it so i need an alternate spot. What about the area underneath the stock switches & cig lighter?? Was thinkin of cuttin that whole thing out & makin it part of the center console & it looks like there'd be enough room under there to hear the speaker too. Other then that, maybe i can slide the roof console down some to put it above the rear view mirror..??

I cheated and got a Cobra 75, so I mounted the box under the glove box and just had to mount the mic clip on the dash behind the steering wheel.

I put mine under the glove box like so, then I have the mic mounted behind the steering wheel. It works great and doesn't get in the way

What about in the center console for your CB. Will yours fit in there?

How is the reception on the 75? I've read the reviews and seen lots of problems with the speaker going bad as well. I'm looking for something discreet that I can pull out when I'm on the trails.

If you put a cb in the center consol, If that's what you mean, there will be muffled sound b/c the speaker is in the cb, and the cb is in the dash, would have to wire in a relocation speaker, or get a cb that has the speaker in the mic.

When I get around to buying another CB, I plan on creating a mounting bracket that bolt between the sun visors

So far my 75 has been fine. I got it from a friend for nothing, and so far it's been great.
