I've got a cheap little cb in the dash where my radio originally was. And my radio is mounted in an aftermarket console. I'm running a Wilson magnet mount antenna on the roof, with the wire for it going out through my rear vent window.

Nice man. I like how you've got the cb mounted. I've got the same antenna set up

I've got a cheap Uniden unit mounted under the dash on the passenger side. It stays out of the way for the most part. I also have a hanger on the rearview mirror for when I'm actually using the thing: it's easier to grab the mic when it's hanging there than when it's mounted on the radio.

Forgive the copious amounts of pollen:

The antenna I'm running is a RoadPro magnetic mount. It sits towards the rear of the roof (for some reason, I could only get decent SWRs back there, rather than the middle of the roof, which is where you'd think it'd be good). It's got an 18' cable so I run that in through the back hatch, under the carpet to the front. Works well enough, but I've been experimenting with every other type of antenna known to man in an effort to get a permanent one mounted. Currently, I'm leaning towards the front fender.

Either way, here's the mag mount:

On the right side of the trans tunnel, where everyone else mounts em haha. And a Tailight Mount for your antenna, of course from xjfirefighter.

And btw I run a cobra radio and a 3ft firestik antenna w/ a medium duty spring.

I've got a cobra 19, it's very compact. Where I've got it mounted seems to work well, I've rode in the passenger seat and it didn't rub my knee. I'm using a Wilson little will mag mount antenna which has a really strong magnet to keep it from getting knocked off.

I got the Cobra 19, mounted to the A-pillar. I took the uper screw that holds the a-pillar trim on out, used a slightly longer one to mount the CB there. It works for me, for now. Not really sure where I wanted to put it, this was the quickest place I found to mount it (I have cupholders on the passenger side trans tunnel BTW)...

4' Firestick is mounted to the front bumper...again, for now. I think when I get my bumper made with stinger I'll mount it up on the stinger a little higher, but I kinda like it up front, lets me keep an eye on it instead of busting it off on something...

Uniden PC78ltw mounted on passenger side of the trans tunnel. Running a 9.5" whip with heavy duty spring mounted on custom tail light guards also made a custom mount for the mic

I was thinking about using one of these mirror mounts with some longer bolts and putting it on my rear roof rack cross member. What do you all think?

CB in the "normal" spot. Wanted to mount on the roof, but I didn't get a compact one, so that wouldn't have really worked.

You'll need to ground it or it won't work.

Also, are you talking about mounting it onto the stock roof rack cross member? As far as I know, they aren't too strong and might rip right out if you happen to snag the antenna on a branch or something. An aftermarket crossmember might be better, and mounting it on a basket or something up there would be even better.

But yes, it also has to be grounded... though I have seen a few no-ground antennas, I'm not sure I trust them entirely.
