New to jeeps but not new to cars and trucks... make sure your TB isnt warped... peace of real fine sand paper and a few pass ontop of kitchen counter ( its flat ) and you can tell if its flat or not... and i would skip the gasket sealer and just you 2 gaskets and try that..

Sealer belongs in a "wet" application. Dry applications would be fine with a gasket only. I know a lot of folks that don't use gaskets on a lot of stuff, but I disagree with this ideal. I could bump my diff cover, and develop a leak, but since I used gaskets, I can tighten the bolts down a touch, and possibly stop the leak. If I did not use gaskets, once the leak started, there would be nothing I could do, short of pulling the cover, and applying more RTV. HTH!!

yea i was curious if the tb was warped, so i pulled an extra tb from the junk yard, gonna clean that one up and install it, the underside of the base looks a lot better than mine on there now from all the gasket scraping in the past. also what yall think about soaking gaskets in water before install?

It is not required anymore, that was old paper gaskets. Now they are treated, and don't require soaking.
