Default Wheel Spacers.

I was looking for some wheel spacers for a project further on down the road. I was wondering if anyone was using these (which I'm sure are), and if they could post some pics. I was thinking maybe 2" or so.

Was also curious as to what they add, or take away from the handling of the XJ.

I'm at stock height, but will most likely be getting a 3" lift on 31's.

Thanks.

They are garbage, IMHO. Just another part to maintain and worry about breaking.

You can get the same effect by getting rims with proper backspacing, unless your just trying to change your bolt pattern.

I've got 1.5" spacers and have no issues. Just retorque 'em each time you rotate your tires. No matter how you do it (spacers, rims, or full widths), increasing the track width increases your turning radius.

I dont know what goes into maintaining them and why there would be a problem with them if they are torqued properly. In my opinion , of course I rather have a new set of wheels but I also dont see a downside to using spacers if you are set on keeping the wheels you have but going to a larger tire.

Handling will be a little more stable on paper, but wil probably feel the same-ish in the real world. The wheel bearings and ball joints take more leverage as well. This can technically increase your chances of wearing out the bearings prematurely and pulling out ball joints on the trail, however this is an issue few people have issues with. Spacers do add another possible point of failure, but as stated, torquing them religiously makes it no more risky than the single set of lugs you are already running. But it is always better IMO to keep it simple, which would be wheels with the proper backspace.

If you do spacers, get reputable ones. Cheapos have bad reviews of cracking.
