Hey guys my first post here. Looking for some advice. Not a cherokee just yet maybe you guys can lean me in the right direction.

I'm looking at an '89 2wd MJ. straight 6 auto "unknown mileage, cluster didn't work when he bought it" "runs and drives great but overheats, think its a bad thermo" Dude's askin $700.

Now just from what i have learned about Jeeps as a whole in my few short years this sounds like a good deal to me. That may just be the discontent for the gutless pos my JK is talking though.

What do you cherokee guys think? If it's worth the hour drive to check it out in person I'm all for it. I just can't afford to be wasting trips.

If he's asking $700, you could probably weasel him down for less. If it is rust free, I'd say go for it. If the engine is shot, put another one it.

 

i'd do it. if i could find an mj for $700 without an engine id still go for it.
go for it. fix it. drive it.

 

As long as the frame and body are in good shape go for it.

Wouldnt worry too much about the bed, MJs have an actual frame from the cab back so the bed is replacable.

 

Mj's are too sexy to let someone else get it if it's rust free

Anyways I say offer $500 and get it? Save it from the JY. I hate seeing a Comanche in the JY when I still don't have one! Lol
