Default Whats up with black rims?

Hey, i am looking in to buying some rims, and was just wondering why so many people choose black rims? Is there an advantage having black rims over chrome or others? Also, i am getting a 4.5 inch lift with 32x11.5x15's so what backspacing should i get. 4.0 or 4.5? does it really even matter that much?

It's simeple black steel rims are cheap and if you destroy one it's cheaper to replace then a alloy rim. Also black is popular because folks like the looks.

$50 a wheel, easy to replace if trashed and you don't ever have to polish them. If they get scratched up a rattle can fixes 'em right up. thats why I run 'em. It sucks trashing a $150 alloy, expensive to replace, if you can still find a match for your set.

Not heavier enough to really be a concern. The weight difference does'nt really apply to wheeling like it would to a race car.

I have a set of black wheels on my '85 ranger that I got for $40 a piece brand new. They look good because the truck is a faded hunter green and they stay looking cleaner much longer. Main reason I got them is because they were super cheap.

The Po-Po wont pull you over if u have them. As for back spacing I have 3.75". I have a RE 4.5 lift and 32x11.5 15s the wheels are 15x8. the back spacing determines how much the tire sticks out of the wheelwell. I have the stock fenderflares and they come out about 1 to 2 inches or so. There may be state and local law that regulate how far tires can stick out from the fenderflares to keep rocks and stuff from flying into other cars on the road. But since I have the black rims, I never get pulled over.
