Since Hummers have entered this thread, I'll go ahead and say that while I hate everything about the H2, I do like the looks of the H3, but that's because it reminds me of an updated Cherokee! The H3 video that was posted earlier was nice, and for a paltry $35000 you too can wheel your stock vehicle like that. Which brings about one of my favorite things about Jeeps...price!
I can find a decent XJ for a couple grand, and with a few more make it wheel like that H3. Sure it has to be built up to do so, but that's half the fun for most of us anyway. Obviously it's a pack mule compared to the H3, but then again I'm not worried about scratches with an XJ.

If I'm not mistaken the H3 is just a Chevy Trailblazer with a different body right? My guess is you could get the performance of a H3 by buying a Trailblazer and putting on bigger tires... Or get an XJ for a significant digit less.
I like the fact that we take a vehicle (cherokee) and are able to make it do things it was never intended to do from the factory, and thats just stock. Put a couple thousand into it and it can out wheel a stock Wrangler Rubicon. Put a couple more thousand and you can out wheel just about anything. After all that you only have about $10,000 max into it, and thats only if you bought a pristine 2000/01. If you bought a pre 1997 then you likely only have $6,000.
Wheel base is the key, the short wheel base is also what made the jeep a worthy rig for so many years! The high approch & deparcher angles also makes navigating trail obstacles much safer than other rigs! Plus the light weight of the jeep makes it less top heavy than its long time rivals the blazer, bronco, & H2/3!!!

Jeep boasts a heritage that no one else can even come close to.
Land Rover copied many of the design characteristics of the M51 after WW2 based on the original MA, MB, and GPW's.
Toyota followed suit with their LandCruisers.
Jeeps have been copied, but never duplicated.
That being said, skip the Hummer Recovery sticker until you've actually done it....seriously.
I really don't consider myself a Jeep-snob, but I do take considerable pride in my rig. I have to remind my son (also an XJ owner) that it's not what you wheel, it's how you wheel it that matters.
