Default What's the "Jeep Thing"?

Hey guys,
Yes, I know what the "Jeep Thing" is, but I'm working on next month's editorial for TheXJGuys and could use some help.

The article is covering what the "Jeep thing" really means. I'm trying to get the thoughts of some people who are actually at Jeep, but I also want to put a good focus on enthusiasts' thoughts.

I'm going for a more professional look to the article, so if you don't mind, throw your thoughts in a response and they may just be used. Actual names would be helpful so credit can be given as well. Thanks guys.

The jeep thing is that feeling you get when you're gunning it up a steep incline that none of your friends could overcome, and the front tires start to come off the ground. And just as you get that gut feeling your about to flop on your top and kill your pretty jeep, something inside you urges you to keep going anyways until you've completed your task. That feeling of pride you get when you're safely at the top staring at the obstacle you've just conquered, that is the jeep thing.

Brandon H.
Or at least thats what i think of anyways.

The first rule about Jeep Thing is we do not talk about what Jeep Thing is...

And if you have to ask you wouldn't understand.

The "Jeep Thing" is the feeling you get about your Jeep that no non-Jeep owners feel.

This is why they never understand.

To me The Jeep Thing is putting your blood sweat and tears into your Jeep to make it the way you want knowing that it will be able to accomplish any task you put in front of it. The sense of accomplishment you get from knowing that you built it and it worked out exactly how you had envisioned. Michael Griffin

Spending the majority of your "off-time" working on your rig, to take it out on the weekends or away from the daily grind, to break it seeing things and places others may never get to see, with people of the same intention of doing the same thing to their rigs, to work on it again to do the same all over again. That is what comes to my mind....

Sig material.

After working on my swap for 5 years, I finally get to drive it. I'll get back to you on the Jeep thing once I figure it out aside from Just Empty Every Pocket.

It's the comradery of passing a fellow Jeeper and not comparing rigs, but acknowledging (the Jeep wave) that if the conditions/terrain gets bad that you'll will be the ones to make it through. Jon B.

Its and instant understanding between jeep owners. You can be from a different state or even country, you meet someone else with a jeep and your practically long lost best friends.

A simple wave in passing while driving says it all

Its not age, race ,and sex...its year, make, and model

The Jeep thing has a mind of its own... It is not something that has a meaning or can be put into words... It is just the feeling a Jeep owner feels when owning a Jeep or has owned a Jeep and Can always be brought back just talking Jeep no matter where you are. or Where you are from...

The first vehicle I ever drove was a early 50s ****** Jeep.
That was in the early 50s.
Have admired Jeeps ever since.
If you understand the HD cycle people, it is similar to us Jeep people.
People like their Chevys, Fords, and Dodge, We Jeep People "love" our Jeeps.

"The Jeep Thing", It's the comarodary of me & my friends spending many a late nights drinking beers & working on our Jeeps (only Jeeps). Spending multyple days on trails wheeling & breaking down. All with the same interests. So many others have tried to find their "thing" with Toyotas, Dodge, Chevy, etc... yet all of us Jeepers have that 1 thing in comon... & that's The Jeep Thing...
- Notice as you talk to Jeepers & or read through these forums, as you look at all the pictures, you see us with our Jeeps, all the other 4x4's are Jeeps in those photo's, you don't see Toyotas, Fords, Zuks, etc.... Their CJ's, TJ's, YJ's, XJ's, ZJ's, WJ', and so on.... that's THE JEEP THING

To me, the Jeep Thing is learning how to drive in a Jeep. Not only learning the basic of driving on roads but also off road. When it came time to buy a first vehicle, try to buy a Jeep. Even when the situation didn't allow to buy a Jeep, you wait patiently. You finally get it, work on it, take good care of it. Even go to the junkyard looking for "new" Jeeps, even though the have been out of production for years. Then you realize that one Jeep just isn't enough for you...
