Default What do you have in your Jeep?

I searched for a thread like this but couldn't find it... I figure it might help people get ideas of things to carry when out. Something simple one person always has may save another person time, money or hassle.

2 part question...

What do you carry in your Jeep if you daily drive?
What else do you carry in it when you go wheeling?

The purpose is to make a list of things people carry that others may not. I'll start a list and if you have something the list doesn't reply to add. If we can get a master list each of us can go though and get an idea of what we can/should take on the road or trails.

Daily driving + wheeling
  • flashlight
  • fire extinguisher
  • Heavy jumper cables
  • first aid kit
  • MRE or some non perishable food + water (except in cold months)
  • Tire pump and patching kit
  • small inverter 12vDC --> 110AC
  • Portable CB radio
  • Portable GPS unit
  • Small tool set including sockets, channel locks and screwdrivers
  • OEM jack and full size spare tire
  • Tow strap
  • 2" ball hitch
  • large blanket
  • large fixed blade and folder knife (locked in a car safe)
  • 1 bottle each antifreeze, engine oil, trans fluid and WW fluid.
  • Can of WD-40

I probably don't have enough but I have:

Umbrella
tools (all my spare tools live in the XJ so I can go to the JY on lunch- with only spares if someone breaks in and steals them I can still function)
Set of coveralls for trips to the JY
Set of old hiking boots (see above)
Mechanix gloves
old black hoodie
BFH
Pry bar
Bottle Jack
4-way tire iron
Spare tire
Can fix-a-flat
.45 Para-Ord P13 (I have CCW)
Brake fluid/Oil/H2O
spare fuses and relays
Wire crimps and crimping tool

This is for DD. In the year I have had my XJ I have only wheeled it twice. Need to change that but I don't have much free time... This summer, I promise!

man, where are all of you when I am wheeling?

I carry a ton of stuff, and when someone in my group needs something, it seems I am the only one carrying a good selection of fix-me's.

How can guys go out on the trail with just wishes and hopes that someone else with them will have what they need when they get in trouble, and will let them use/have it? It boggles the mind

On a ROUGH trail...
Spare axles for all corners
Spare U-joints
Spare rear driveshaft
Radiator upper and lower hoses
Antifreeze, PS fluid, brake fluid, ATF, gear oil, oil/liquid PUMP
Bottle jack (haven't talked myself into a hi-lift yet)
Tools out the ying yang in a box. I try to narrow it down, but can never justify leaving something behind.
Jumper cables
Tire plugs
Air hose that will hook to an underhood pump
Full size spare
Tire iron
U-joint tiger tool
CB
Fire extinguisher
Cooler with food and drink in it
Mac pad to save the knees and back while using this stuff
Ratchet straps and bungees
Grease gun (glad I had it LOTS of times)
Shop towels
Fuses
Vehicle paperwork, of course
A smile
Maybe a few more things, but I am not in a position to take inventory at the moment.

flashlight
jumpers
water and a pack of jerkey
OEM jack and full size spare tire
Tow strap
pair of gloves
assortment of zip-ties
roll of duct tape (cute pick flavor)
wd-40
baby jug of antifreeze
state map
my own cell-phone (gps as well) of course is always with me.
might be a quart of motor oil, can't remember if I took that out or not.

Really need to get a hitch and tow points installed

Also considering hiding a spare key to open the doors only (non-sentry) in the undercarriage somewhere. I just know I'm going to have a burr-durrr moment and lock my sentry key inside while it's 10 degrees outside.

It is the same way for road cars... people are not prepared... at all

Also Automobile Karma doesn't exist.... I noticed this.... every time someone I know breaks down I am the one they call... yet the last time my CPS went kaput everyone I called was either too busy or didn't want to stay long enough to give me a ride to the local parts shop
