Default ZJ or XJ

Grand cherokee or cherokee? Can not decide on what model to get. I Know either one I will get one with the I6. Had a wrangler with one with over 300k that thing ran great. So pretty much what are the big difference between these to models? Other than looks. The insides are a little bigger on the grands right. I do want something that is easy to fix when something breaks. Looks like the xj would be the winner on that right?
And what are some things I should look for when buy one. And would you all be scared of getting one with miles over 150k?
Well thanks for all the help
jay

Now im not bassin on the ZJ, but I had the chance to get one and i turned it down. Some of them have transmission and i rear drivetrain problems (dont quote me on the second one). Plus is that they are a front and rear coil design which is great off road. Id look for a ZJ with under 100K or an XJ under 150K

I like them both. I'm hoping to get a ZJ someday. I have heard that the transmission in some ZJs aren't very good. I'm not sure what engines have the less-than-stellar transmissions, though. The ZJ does offer a little bit more comfort and more room for passengers in the rear seat.

I think the XJ looks better, I just really like the completely boxy shape. The most common transmissions both seem to be very good (the AW4 and the AX-15). I think those are the main reasons I like the XJ better.

I like my XJ. she handles well, has lots of pick-up, and is pretty comfortable, even for a 6' tall 285lb guy.

Is there any easy /fast way I can tell what trans it has?
Found a 99 with 85k on it real clean for 5700. but i think I'm leaning to the 98 xj for 3000 and put some money in the bank or a little into the jeep

If you're talking about the XJ with a 4.0, then it would either have the AW4 if it's automatic, or AX-15 if it's manual.
